By Rajesh Saha: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday raided seven locations, including places belonging to TMC leaders in Kolkata. The raids were linked to the West Bengal recruitment scam. The residence of TMC’s Sujoy Krishna Bhadra, who is an aide of MP Abhishek Banerjee, is also under the probe agency’s scanner.
The simultaneous raids started on the morning of May 4, as two CBI teams arrived at Bhadra’s residence. Another house of his in the same locality was also searched.
Apart from Bhadra’s residence, six more places were searched by the CBI in Kolkata, including houses of TMC leaders Partha Sarkar and Santu Ganguly, who are considered close aides of former education minister Partha Chatterjee.
Partha Chatterjee was earlier arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the alleged school jobs scam.

TMC leader Sukanta Acharya’s residence in New Barrackpore was also raided by the CBI on Thursday morning. Acharya’s name had cropped up in the case after Partha Chatterjee’s arrest by the ED.
The residence of Prabir Banerjee, who was Partha Chatterjee’s OSD when he was the minister of education, was also raided.
Joydip Das, state Youth Trinamool Congress leader in Barrackpore, was questioned by another team of CBI simultaneously.
Notably, Sujoy Bhadra holds the post of Chief Operating Officer in a private company where one of Abhishek Banerjee’s parents is a director. Bhadra came under the scanner when Gopal Dalapati, an accused, mentioned his name.
Abhishek Banerjee is the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Abhishek’s aide Sujoy Bhadra was also named by Tapas Mondal, who was also arrested by the central probe agency. Bhadra was summoned by the CBI twice last March and had appeared before the CBI Office for questioning.
Two months after his questioning, his residence in Kolkata’s Behala was searched by the CBI on Thursday (May 4) morning.
Earlier in April, the CBI had searched six locations in West Bengal’s Birbhum, Murshidabad and Kolkata, including the premises of TMC MLA Jiban Krishna Saha, in connection with the teachers’ recruitment scam, a PTI report said.
