By Ajaz Khan: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out a raid at former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director, Sameer Wankhede’s residence on Friday. The CBI team left around 5.30 am this morning after nearly a nearly 13-hour raid.
Sameer Wankhede had arrested Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in a drug case.
Around 10 to 12 officers left Wankhede residence with several documents and a printer.
According to information, Sameer Wankhede allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 25 crore to avoid implicating Aryan Khan in the cruise drug case.
In the same case, the CBI had registered a case against four people, including Sameer Wankhede.
The agency carried out searches at a total of 29 locations, including Sameer Wankhede’s Mumbai residence, as well as in Delhi, Ranchi and Kanpur.
Sameer Wankhede conducted raids after getting information about a rave party on the Cordelia cruise from Mumbai to Goa on October 2, 2021, from where Aryan Khan was arrested.
Aryan Khan remained in police custody for 26 days and was even sent to Arthur Road Jail during that time.
Due to the lack of solid evidence against him, the court granted him bail on October 28, 2021.
Arbaaz Merchant, who was also arrested in the same case, had testified in court that Aryan did not possess any drugs and even advised him against carrying drugs.
CBI files corruption case against Wankhede
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday registered a corruption case against Sameer Wankhede who arrested Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in a drugs case two years ago.
Wankhede has been booked under Section 7, 7A, and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and Sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 388 (extortion by threat) of the IPC.
The case was registered against three public servants, including Sameer Wankhede, and raids are underway at over 30 locations in Delhi, Mumbai, Ranchi, Lucknow, Guwahati and Chennai.
Wankhede and others allegedly demanded Rs 25 crore bribe for not framing Aryan Khan in the drug bust.
