By India Today Web Desk: An inspector attached to the crime wing of Kannagi Nagar police station in Chennai has been placed on a compulsory waitlist after allegations of sexual harassment by eight women personnel, according to a news report by The New Indian Express. An inquiry committee has been set up to probe the allegations.
Eight women personnel filed a complaint against Inspector Muthuswamy of the Kannagi Nagar police station, accusing him of sending them lewd text messages and images.

The women, who were part of the crime wing at the Kannagi Nagar police station, claimed that when they confronted him about his behaviour, he retaliated by assigning them extra duty and menial tasks.
The complaint was brought to the attention of Tambaram police commissioner A Amalraj, who initiated an internal inquiry into the matter and assigned senior police officers to investigate.

As a result, Muthuswamy has been placed on a compulsory waitlist pending the outcome of the inquiry. While the investigation is ongoing, the authorities have transferred the eight women personnel to other police stations.
