The amount has to be paid to the child and if the fine is not paid, the accused will have to serve four more years of imprisonment, said judge Aaj Sudarshan in his verdict.
THE CASE
According to police, Dr Gireesh molested the boy several times between December 2015 and February 2017 at his Manakkad clinic during counselling. He was an assistant professor in the government health department.
Due to repeated molestation, the boy’s mental health worsened and he faced severe issues. He advised the boy’s parents to take him to other doctors and threatened the boy against revealing anything.
In 2019, the boy was admitted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital’s psychiatry department and when doctors were taking his case history, he revealed the incident to doctors.
The doctors informed the police and a case was registered against Dr Gireesh.
