By Ashish Srivastava: Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad, wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case, was killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Jhansi on Thursday. Along with Asad Ahmed, another person, Ghulam, with a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head, was also killed in the encounter.
The encounter of Asad Ahmad and Gulam took place in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case, where the two were suspected to be involved. After the incident, CM Yogi called for a meeting to discuss the state’s law and order situation. In the meeting, he praised the officials involved in the encounter and their efforts to maintain the rule of law.
The Chief Secretary of Home, Sanjay Prasad, briefed the CM about the details of the encounter. The CM expressed his appreciation for the UP STF, DGP, Special DG Law and Order, and the entire team.

On the other hand, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya congratulated the team of UP STF and tweeted, “This is the fate that should befall the murderers of Advocate Shri Umesh Pal and police personnel!”
Asad’s encounter came on a day when his father Atiq Ahmed was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Prayagraj in the Umesh Pal murder case.
Special Additional Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said both Asad and Ghulam had a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on their heads. The encounter took place near the Pariksha Dam in Jhansi. Police said both the deceased were hiding in the area and a close aide of Atiq Ahmed was sheltering them.
Police teams are still carrying out search operations in the area.
