Congress, Bajrang Punia conspiring against me, have proof: WFI chief on wrestlers’ protest

[ad_1]

By India Today News Desk: The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh, who is at the centre of a controversy involving sexual assault allegations, including that of a minor wrestler, said that he has got proof to show that protests by wrestlers were part of a “conspiracy” hatched by Congress and wrestler Bajrang Punia.

Brij Bhushan Singh said that he had an audio clip to prove the conspiracy and that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would regret she extended her solidarity with the wrestlers after she was aware of the “truth”.

“The whole conspiracy was hatched by Congress leader Deepender Hooda and wrestler Bajrang Punia. We have an audio clip to prove this, and will give it to Delhi Police when the time comes,” WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said.

He termed the demonstrations as politically motivated and said that wrestlers were stooges of Congress who did not merely seek his resignation.

Brij Bhushan Singh’s statements came after wrestlers on Sunday said that they would continue the protests until the WFI chief was arrested. A BJP MP from Kaiserganj, Brij Bhushan Singh, has repeatedly said that he would cooperate with the investigation and that he had not received a copy of the two FIRs registered against him.

Brij Bhushan Singh also said that he was ready to resign if it would make the protesters go back home and sleep peacefully.

The protesting wrestlers have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to listen to their ‘Mann ki Baat’ as well. Several top wrestlers are staging a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, demanding a probe against Singh. Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Bajrang Punia, who is one of the protesters, said their fight will continue till justice is not done.

“The prime minister should also listen to our ‘Mann ki Baat’. Crores of people are sitting in our support. This is our strength. We do not know how many MPs and MLAs there are,” Vinesh Phogat said on Sunday.
