‘Countdown for KCR, his party has started…’: Amit Shah in Telangana

By Apoorva Jayachandran : Union Home Minister Amit Shah said K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) and his party Bharath Rashtra Samiti will soon be routed out of Telangana and the BJP will soon form the government in the state.

Amit Shah, who was addressing a gathering in the ‘Vijay Sankalp Sabha’ in Chevella–a suburb of Hyderbad, said the countdown for KCR and BRS has started and no matter what the Telangana Chief minister does, he would be voted out of power.

Talking about Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay who was arrested in the alleged SSC paper leak case, Amit Shah said, “Just a few days ago, KCR put Bandi Sanjay in jail. What wrong did he do other than question about the SSC paper leak case?”

The SSC question paper for the Hindi exam was allegedly leaked on April 4 in Warangal, minutes after the examination commenced. A day earlier, on April 3, the SSC question paper of another subject had also allegedly leaked.

Since the photos were circulated by a man who is also a BJP worker, the Telangana Police had taken Bandi Sanjay into custody. Amit Shah accused the Telangana Police of acting as the cadres of the ruling BRS government.

“KCR, open your ears and listen clearly. Our fight will not stop until we bring you down from that seat. You cannot do anything as the people of Telangana are with the BJP. No matter what KCR does, he cannot separate BJP from the people in Telangana,” said the Union Home Minister.

Amit Shah also took potshots at the KCR-led Telangana government for failing to provide jobs to youths. “…for a person who failed to provide jobs to the youth, conduct proper exams, is it fitting for such a person to be in governance? Remember, the youth are prepared to give you a fitting response in the elections,” he said in a direct jibe to KCR.

Speaking about how KCR changed the party’s name from Telangana Rashtra Samithi to Bharat Rashtra Samithi to contest the Lok Sabha elections, Amit Shah said that KCR should not nurse hopes of becoming the Prime Minister of the country and that the BRS chief didn’t have it in him to become the PM.

Amit Shah also accused KCR of running the government on the directions of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.

“The symbol of the Bharath Rashtra Samithi is a car. Tell me who’s steering the car? When the steering wheel is with Majilis, then how can there be development? The steering of the car is with Owaisi. They cannot bring development for Telangana. We will not let the steering wheel of the state be in the hands of Owaisi,” said Amit Shah.

“Modi ji has done a lot of things for Telangana. If we are voted to power, we will end the Muslim reservation bill and celebrate Nizam Swatantra Din,” he said.

Every year on September 17, the Central government celebrates the day as ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ while the K Chandrashekhar Rao-led TRS government observes ‘National Integration Day’.

September 17, 1948 is the day Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Osman Ali Khan, the seventh in the line of the Asaf Jahi dynasty, had surrendered in the wake of Operation Polo, the military invasion of Hyderabad by Indian forces. This is what the BJP celebrates as the ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ (Nizam Swatantra Din).

However, September 17 is also commonly believed to be the day Hyderabad became part of the Indian Union although the accession happened on January 26, 1950. This day is celebrated by the TRS as ‘National Integration Day’.
