By Rajesh Saha: Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal’s daughter, Sukanya Mondal has been remanded to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody for three days. This comes a day after the central probe agency arrested her in connection with an alleged cattle smuggling case.
Earlier, too, she was summoned by the ED for three times, but she didn’t appear for the same.
Sukanya will be produced before the ED special court again on April 30.
Sukanya Mondal, who is a teacher by profession at a state government-run primary school, has huge properties registered under her name. During her interrogation, the CBI officials asked her where and how she invested the black money in the alleged cattle smuggling case.
The ED further told the court that a huge property was recovered under her name. Within two years, Sukanya Mondal bought huge pieces of land worth crores of rupees. She also held important positions in other companies.
On Thursday, Sukanya Mondal was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi. During the hearing, the court said Sukanya was not co-operating with the investigation. She was repeatedly summoned by the agency, but she did not appear without providing any valid reason, added the court.
“She tried to ignore the probe by central agency, which is nothing but clearly in-cooperation with the investigation,” said the court.

The court further said it was necessary to take the accused into custody and question her in order to determine the actual source of the large sum of black money she acquired.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested TMC president of Birbhum district Anubrata Mondal on November 17, 2022, to question him about his involvement in the cattle smuggling case. Anubrata Mondal was in judicial custody after being arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which had picked him up for questioning in the same cattle smuggling case.
