By Kanu Sarda: With help from her father, a Delhi woman filed a false rape case against her father-in-law. A Delhi court on Wednesday ordered the Delhi Police to file an FIR against the duo, coming down heavily on them for making a false claim.
Meanwhile the additional sessions court judge also acquitted the father-in-law, the woman’s husband and her sister-in-law, from false charges of dowry harassment filed against them.
In a 73-page judgement, the court said, “Rape is a heinous crime but false allegations of rape also need to be dealt with firmly. It causes huge humiliation to the accused.”

According to court, the woman had alleged that she was raped by her father-in-law. The woman’s false charges were backed her own father, who is also an advocate, the court noted. “Being an advocate himself, he did not keep the sanctity of the oath and kept on making false stories,” the judge further said.
“What they did is not just exaggeration, but also falls within the purview of an illegal act. It is an offence to make a false charge and this court is of the view that stern action against them is required,” the order stated.
The woman who filed the complaint, got married in 2014. She had alleged that her in-laws were harassing her for dowry, and levelled the charge of rape on her father-in-law. Her claims were also backed by her family.
