By Pramod Madhav: Tamil Nadu Industries Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Thangam Thennarasu has slammed Governor Ravi over his recent interview. Thangam Thennarasu said that he had to reply to the governor’s comments to make sure that no one even thinks that whatever he (Governor Ravi) had said was true.
“He sat over a Bill even not worried about the 40, who died during those months. Only after a resolution was passed against him in the Assembly, he gave the assent,” said Thangam Thennarasu, who alleged Ravi didn’t come to Chennai as a Governor but only for the role of a BJP leader.

The minister also said it was Governor Ravi who didn’t respect the assembly and that it was CM Stalin who made it right by passing a resolution that only the customary speech by the government would go on record for the first day of the House’s winter session.
Thennarasu also asked, “Back in 2002, did the governor of Gujarat read the state speech given by the state Government or did he call the state a non-peaceful place after the Godhra riots?”
He further questioned why Governor Ravi is acting like an Opposition leader by not talking about the actions carried out during the Coimbatore cylinder blast or the riots at Kaniyamur following the death of a school student.
“Even if Governor Ravi agrees or not, Tamil Nadu is a peaceful state. This reflects in the state’s growth. But, the truth is his speech is trying to disturb the state’s peace,” said Minsiter Thennarasu.

He then slammed Governor Ravi, saying he doesn’t know the difference between ‘withheld’ and ‘pending’ when it comes to State legislative Assembly enacted bills, adding that as many as 17 bills are currently pending with the Governor for his assent.
Minister Thangam Thennarasu also said that Governor Ravi’s explanation over ‘Discretionary Fund’ expenditure is false.
