By Pramod Madhav: DMK MP Kalanidhi Veerasamy has written to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urging her to investigate BJP state president K Annamalai’s nature of money transactions to meet his monthly expenses and any transactions he had done above Rs 20,000.
Kalanidhi has sought the probe after Annamalai stated on April 14 that he needed Rs 7 lakh to manage his expenses as party president and his party and friends help him manage the routine expenses.
Citing Annamalai’s speech, Kalanidhi accused him of receiving Rs 1.76 crore from his friends.
Kalanidhi sought a probe claiming that cash transactions have always been an area of concern for the tax department and under Section 269SS of the Income Tax Act, 1961, any deposit or loan of more than Rs 20,000 is not allowed.
In another jolt to Annamalai, DMK Youth Wing chief and Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has sent a legal notice to state BJP president Annamalai over “DMK Files”. Udhayanidhi Stalin has sought Rs 50 crore as damages from Annamalai along with an unconditional apology.
