By Divyesh Singh: Trouble is mounting for the former head of Mumbai Zone Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede, who was summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with an extortion case pertaining to Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan.
A British citizen, who was arrested by Sameer Wankhede in a drug seizure case, has alleged that the former NCB official’s close aide and an Intelligence Officer Ashish Ranjan stole his Rolex Daytona Wrost watch worth Rs 30 lakhs while he was in custody.
Sameer Wankhede was also probed by the NCB vigilance team for the procurement and sale of an imported luxury watch. However, he could not explain how he got the watch. This was also mentioned in the CBI FIR filed against Wankhede for corruption and extortion.

Speaking to India Today, the British national Karan Sajnani said, “The IO of the case took away my Daytona Rolex watch worth Rs 30 lacs and this wasn’t shown in the seized items list. The IO of the case was Ashish Ranjan”.
When asked if Sameer Wankhede knew KP Gosavi or Sanville Dsouza who have been named in the FIR in the Aryan Khan case, Karan Sajnani said that both of them were with the former NCP head while his house was being raided in January 2021.
“Wankhede has to face the law and has to be treated the same way he treated those he had booked and arrested. I will file a case against Wankhede and others if he is acquitted in the case,” Sajnani said.
Karan Sajnani was arrested by Sameer Wankhede and his team in January 2021 and taken into custody with seizure shown of around 125 kgs of imported Marijuana. Sajnani claimed that the seized drug was only 7.5 grams of Marijuana while the other items seized items were flavoured tobacco.

Wankhede, an IRS officer who is currently in DGTS Chennai, will have to appear before the CBI’s Mumbai zone office to get his statement recorded.
