By Gopi Maniar Ghanghar : Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is winning praise after he chose to ditch a government-funded charted plane to visit his ailing son in Mumbai. The chief minister not only used a domestic flight to meet his son but also paid for the government-funded air ambulance which airlifted his son from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.
The leading compliment came from Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. “Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel has set an excellent example of integrity and simplicity in public life. I have faith and trust that his conduct will be an inspiration to millions of people active in public life. I pray for his son Anuj’s speedy recovery,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
WHAT HAPPENED TO ANUJ PATEL?
Anuj Patel, the only son of Bhupendra Patel, suffered a brain stroke on April 30 due to which he went into a coma. He was shifted to KD Hospital in Ahmedabad but the doctors there recommended him to Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital.
Bhupendra Patel then hired a government air ambulance to take his son to Mumbai. Anuj is now admitted to Hinduja Hospital and regained consciousness on Tuesday.
The Gujarat CM visited his ailing son five times since he was admitted to hospital in Mumbai. For this, the CM did not take a government-funded charted plane but chose to travel on a domestic flight.
