Ghaziabad civic poll winner’s husband booked as notes showered during victory procession | VIDEO

[ad_1]

By India Today News Desk: After a Ghaziabad woman corporator won as an independent candidate in the recently held civic polls in Uttar Pradesh, her husband’s video of him sitting on a horse while another man is seen showering currency notes during her victory procession has gone viral. A case has been registered against the corporator’s husband.

In the video, Zaida Bano’s husband, Raisuddin, can be seen sitting on a horse with flower garlands around his neck at the Gurdwara Road area in Modinagar. Another person can be seen throwing currency notes in the air as Zaida Bano’s supporters cheer him on. Zaido Bano won from Ward 23 in Ghaziabad. This comes despite a ban on victory processions after elections.

A case has been registered by the police against Rahisuddin after a preliminary probe. Raisuddin said that the victory procession was not carried out by him and he was merely stopped by the crowd to celebrate his wife’s success.

The BJP won 26 seats in the recently concluded UP civic polls, while independent candidates have worked their magic in cities like Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, and Ghaziabad.
