By India Today News Desk: A two-storey godown collapsed on Saturday in Bhiwandi, located in the Thane district of Maharashtra. The collapse has left several people, who were living and working on the premises, trapped under the debris, according to a civic official.
The chief of the regional disaster management cell, Avinash Sawant, has already started rescue and relief operations in the Valpada area of Mankoli where the incident took place.

“The ground-plus-two storey building in Wardhaman Compound collapsed at around 1.45 pm. Four families resided on the upper floors, while labourers worked on the ground floor,” he said.
Fire engines from Bhiwandi, Thane, and other nearby areas have been deployed for search and rescue operations.
