By India Today News Desk: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a heatwave warning in the eastern parts of India for the next four days, while the northwest region of the country might have to undergo a heatwave for the next two days.
Amid the heatwave conditions, states like Tripura have announced all government schools in the state to remain shut from April 18 to 23, due to the current heatwave conditions in the state.
Not only Tripura, West Bengal has also declared the closure of all state-run educational institutions next week in view of the severe heatwave conditions.
The meteorological department also reported that a few parts of Andhra Pradesh would experience a heat wave for the next three days.
On April 16, a bulletin issued by Bihar’s weather department said severe heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in the next three-four days. People are requested to avoid heat exposure, keep cool and avoid dehydration, reads the bulletin.

Earlier on April 16, nearly 13 people lost their lives due to sunstroke while attending an award ceremony in Maharashtra.
The Met office also said that Sikkim, Odisha and Jharkhand may also experience heatwave conditions over the next two to three days.
Similar conditions are expected in isolated parts of Punjab and Haryana on April 17, and in western Uttar Pradesh on April 18. Eastern Uttar Pradesh may also be affected on April 18-19, the IMD said.
LIGHT RAINFALL PREDICTION
According to the Met department, a western disturbance active in the western Himalayan region may bring some relief from the increasing temperatures in the northwestern part of the Indian plains, beginning Tuesday.

It predicts isolated to scattered rainfall in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan from April 18-20. On April 18, heavy rainfall is expected in isolated regions of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand might experience heavy rainfall on April 18-19. Throughout the next two to three days, isolated hailstorms are expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab.
