By Rajesh Saha: Former Education Minister of West Bengal, Partha Chatterjee, who was arrested in connection with the alleged Teacher’s recruitment scam, is currently in the Presidency jail in Kolkata after being remanded to judicial custody by a special court. According to sources, Partha Chatterjee has been spending his days inside jail reciting the holy scripture Bhagavad Gita, which he has already completed and revised more than ten times.
In fact, he is now reciting verses from the Gita in between his words, sources added.
Partha Chatterjee is also an avid reader of Bengali literature, having completed several Bengali novels written by renowned novelists during his stay in jail. His lawyer, Sukanya Bhattacharya, told India Today, “Reading novels has been one of his favorite hobbies for long decades. I myself have gifted him a few books to read.”
Partha Chatterjee has completed novels by Sanjib Chattopadhyay, Suchitra Bhattacharya, Buddhadeb Guha, and Mani Shankar Mukhopadhyay, among others.
Speaking to India Today, Sukanya Bhattacharya, said, “He is a student from Ramakrishna mission. He always loves to read about Ramakrishna, Maa Sarada, and Swami Vivekananda. As far as I know he always keeps a picture of Ramakrishna Paramahans and Maa Sarada with him.”
