By India Today News Desk: Former Assam Youth Congress chief Angkita Dutta is Assam’s daughter, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, adding that the police will be involved if the Congress cannot handle the matter internally.
Dutta had alleged mental harassment by Indian Youth Congress chief Srinivas BV in a series of tweets.
“Angkita Dutta (former president of Assam Pradesh Youth Congress) is the daughter of Assam. The way Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has tackled this matter is sad. They (Assam Congress) are thinking that she has given a wrong statement and the IYC President is right. I would have been happy if the Assam Congress talks in favour of her. But what we see is the complete opposite,” Sarma said, reported news agency ANI.

“It is Congress’ matter, and if they tackle the issue, then there will be no need for the involvement of the CID or the police. If the issue is not resolved, then the law will have to take its course,” he added.
On Wednesday, Dutta filed a complaint with the police against Srinivas BV in Assam’s Dispur accusing him of being “sexist and chauvinistic” and using derogatory comments. Today, she recorded her statement before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Guwahati.
According to her complaint, Srinivas has not only been harassing and torturing her over the past six months but has also threatened her of dire consequences if she approached the Congress leadership against him.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women asked the Assam Police to probe the harassment allegations and asked the state police chief to submit a detailed report.
