By India Today News Desk: Indians living in Sudan have been advised to stay indoors on Saturday afternoon in view of the ongoing clashes between army and paramilitary forces in the African nation.
“In view of reported firings and clashes, all Indians are advised to take utmost precautions, stay indoors and stop venturing outside with immediate effect. Please also stay calm and wait for updates,” a tweet from the Indian Embassy in Khartoum read.
Several rounds of firing were heard in Sudan’s capital Khartoum amid the simmering tensions between the military and the country’s paramilitary forces.
Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces claimed to have taken control of the presidential palace, the residence of Sudan’s Army Chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Khartoum’s international airport, news agency AFP reported.
Sudan’s paramilitaries also claimed they were in control of several key sites following fighting with the army.
