By Akram Khan: A four-month-old girl was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Swarna Jayanti Nagar area of Aligarh, days after an attack by stray canines claimed the life of a retired doctor in the city.
The parents of the deceased infant were busy with a wedding ceremony at the house. When the child was put to sleep in a room, a stray dog sneaked into the house and picked up the sleeping infant by its jaws. It took her to a secluded place, where other dogs joined and mauled her to death.
On coming to know that the infant was missing from the room, the family members went looking for the child. They rescued her from the stray dogs. However, the infant had died by then.

Pawan, the father of the baby girl said, “As soon as I came to know that my baby had been taken away by a stray dog, I rushed to rescue her. I tried to drive away the dogs by throwing stones at them. But, it was too late. The stray dogs had killed my baby.”
Asha, the grandmother of the deceased girl, said that stray dogs had attacked the family many times earlier.
“Everyone was busy at the wedding. The daughter-in-law had put all the children, including the baby, to sleep at home. A stray dog entered the house and took the infant girl away. By the time we came to know about it, it was too late,” the grandmother said.
“The stray dogs could have picked up other children as well. They are all over the place. They have attacked us many times. But nobody is listening,” she said.
