By Satyajeet Kumar: The Jharkhand Students’ Union (JSU) has launched a 72-hour agitation against the 60:40 ratio-based recruitment policy of Chief Minister Hemant Soren-led state government. The protest started on Monday with the ‘gherao’ of the CM house.
The students’ union has been demanding scrapping of the 60:40 ration-based employment policy, according to which, 60 per cent of seats are reserved for candidates from categories belonging to the state, whereas 40 per cent of the available positions are designated for candidates from other states.
Despite several demonstrations and agitations, the government did not pay any heed to the demands. JSU leader, Manoj Yadav, told India Today that the new policy does not have any provision of reservation for the local mulwasi community in grade 3 and grade 4 jobs.

The JSU will organise a torch light procession on Tuesday seeking support from people for Jharkhand Bandh.
The district administration in Ranchi had issued prohibitory orders within the radius of 200 meters of CM house in view of the union’s plan to lay siege to the official residence. Some of the protesters were detained at Ram Mandir Chowk and the road leading up to the CM house was heavily barricaded.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ranchi told India Today that 2,000 extra forces were deployed to control the agitation.
