By Anupam Mishra: A Kangaroo Court ordered a couple to leave the village due to allegations of a woman’s extramarital affair in Daukimari village in Jalpaiguri district. The incident occurred on Monday when the village panchayat, ruled by the Trinamool Congress (TMC), decided that the couple should leave the village and also made them sign a stamp paper.

According to locals, the husband was living in another state for work-related issues, and the wife was allegedly having an affair in his absence.

KANGAROO COURT IN WB

Upon getting information about the same, the village panchayat called Kangaroo Court on Monday and decided that both husband and wife should leave after signing a deed on 10 rupee stamp paper.

The opposition parties have started questioning the TMC’s role in allowing kangaroo courts to dominate the state and have demanded immediate action.

TMC PRADHAN REFUTE ALLEGATIONS

The local TMC panchayat Pradhan, Mamata Rai, denied having any knowledge of the incident and claimed that the village panchayat did not consult her regarding the issue.

The police have yet to receive a complaint in the matter, and the police superintendent has stated that they will take action if a complaint is received.
