By India Today News Desk: The Congress is set to win 17 of the 28 seats in the Bangalore region, with the BJP in the second place with 10 seats and the JD(S) a distant third with just one, the India Today-Axis My India exit poll predicted.
In terms of vote share, the grand old party is predicted to bag 44 per cent of the votes, while the saffron party will get 40 per cent. The JD(S)’s vote share is predicted to be 15 per cent in the region. Exit polls don’t always get it right.
Karnataka voted today till 6 pm to elect 224 members to its Assembly, recording a 65.69 per cent voter turnout. In 2018, the state had recorded a voter turnout of 72.36 per cent.
Melukote recorded the highest turnout – 67.4 per cent, while the lowest was seen in CV Nagar – 32.1 per cent, election officials said.
Karnataka is seeing a three-cornered political contest between the ruling BJP, the Congress and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal (Secular).
