By Anupam Mishra: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued an appeal to all opposition parties to unite against the BJP in the 2024 election as her party completed 12 years in power in the state this year. She assured they can all defeat the BJP this time.
Apart from issuing an appeal to all the opposition parties, the Trinamool Congress chief, on her Facebook page, also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi without naming him and his Mann ki Baat show. She said: “They are spreading lies. Atrocities are happening with women and others across the country.”

“I will also say that a change is required in the country. The 2024 election will be an election of change. A false government is doing atrocities in the name of NRC. Why should we support it? I will ask all opposition parties to get united. If we can be united, we can defeat the BJP this time. No power on earth can stop us,” she said.
On May 2, 2021, the TMC returned to power in Bengal for the third consecutive term.
