Man dies in celebratory firing in Greater Noida

By India Today News Desk: A man died of bullet injuries after being shot during celebratory firing at a naming ceremony in the Jahangirpur village of Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida. The accused who did the firing escaped from the scene. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and admitted the young man to a hospital where doctors declared him dead. The police have registered a case of murder and started an investigation.

The accused, identified as Rohit, is a resident of Jahangirpur. Rohit started celebratory firing during the ceremony in which Prem Pal, who had come to attend the function from Palwal, was fatally shot.

People present at the scene rushed Prem Pal to nearby Kailash Hospital where after some time, the doctors declared him dead. The police were informed of the incident. The police reached the scene, took possession of the body, sent it for post-mortem and are searching for the accused who is still at large.

Providing more information about the incident, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Greater Noida, Ashok Kumar, said that the naming ceremony was being celebrated at the home of a young man named Dharmendra in Jahangirpur Kasba, in the Jevar police station area. Dharmendra’s in-laws’ had come to attend the ceremony from Karol village. Prempal, who also resides in Palwal, had attended the event with them.

The police have started searching for the accused and will soon arrest him.
