By Rohit Kumar Singh: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav triggered a controversy after he called gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed as “Atiq ji” during a media interaction. Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were killed in Prayagraj when three people opened fire at them near a medical college on Saturday.
“It is not the death of Atiq ji, but the death of law, that has taken place in Uttar Pradesh,” said Tejashwi Yadav.
Addressing the media at Patna airport, he further said, “Uttar Pradesh is witnessing the maximum number of custodial deaths in recent history, and all this is done to gain cheap popularity.”
Tejashwi Yadav also claimed that the don’s killing was completely scripted.

Reacting to Tejashwi Yadav’s statement, the BJP said it was an attempt to appease the Muslim vote bank.
BJP leader Nikhil Anand said, “Tejashwi Yadav calling Atiq Ahmed ‘Atiq ji’ is similar to the Congress leaders, who used to call Osama bin Laden ‘Osama Ji’.”
“This is Muslim appeasement politics, which is unfortunate. It is always that criminals like Mukhtar Ansari and Atiq Ahmed are reverable for RJD”, Nikhil Anand added.
