By Sunil Bhat: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted raids at 11 locations in the Kashmir Valley, in connection with the Jamaat-e-Islami and terror funding cases.
According to the details, the raids by the NIA were being conducted in Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara and Pulwama.
On Wednesday, the NIA had attached the properties of three persons for their alleged involvement in militancy-related activities in the Kashmir Valley, officials told PTI.
The central agency has stepped up its vigil against terrorist outfits, their affiliates, agents and over-ground workers (OGWs) by conducting raids on properties of terror suspects and accused across locations in Kashmir, they said.
The NIA attached the immovable properties of three accused in two different cases of terror activities involving members or cadres of proscribed terrorist organisations like Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), among others.
In the first case, the immovable properties of the two accused — Doulat Ali Mugal and Ishaq Pala — were attached in Herman in the Shopian district under the UA(P)A Act, the NIA said.
While Pala, currently lodged in central jail Agra, was a terrorist of HM/Al-Badr organisation, Mugal was an overground worker of the proscribed HM and is currently out on bail, it said.
REMAINING TERROR GROUPS WILL BE ELIMINATED SOON: JK DGP
On Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh told PTI that the groups involved in recent terror incidents in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch will be eliminated soon.
He said a fresh strategy will be chalked out in Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts to further improve the security situation in the region.
Two terrorist attacks on the army in Poonch and Rajouri districts on April 20 and May 5 left five soldiers dead.
“It is difficult to say whether it is a newly infiltrated group (of terrorists) or an old one. But terrorist groups from Pakistan are infiltrating with weapons and explosives to engineer terror strikes. To eliminate them after identification, forces and police are working together,” the DGP said.
“At several places, they have been identified and subsequently eliminated. The remaining groups which have engineered the recent terror attacks will soon be eliminated”, Singh told reporters in Jammu.
