By Sunil Bhat: In a sweeping crackdown, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is carrying out raids at multiple locations across Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, searches are underway in south and central Kashmir. Raids are also being reported from the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
The NIA action comes weeks after a deadly terror attack in Poonch that killed five soldiers. Seven to eight terrorists in two groups are believed to have engineered the attack on the Army truck on April 20.
The terrorists reportedly hid under a culvert on the road from where they launched the attack on the ill-fated truck which was carrying fruits, vegetables and other items to Sangiote village from the Bhimber Gali camp for iftar to be organised by the Rashtriya Rifles, according to initial investigation.
Jammu and Kashmir Police said the terrorists carried out the ambush with locals’ support. Over 200 people have being questioned till now and the operation to neutralise the terrorists involved in the attack is on, DGP Dilbag Singh said.
