Nine arrested for lynching Bihar man on suspicion of theft in Kerala

By Shibimol KG: The Kerala police on Monday arrested nine people for killing a Bihar native on suspicion of theft.

Rajesh Manchi, 36, was lynched in Malappuram’s Keezhissery, said Malappuram SP Sujith Das. The accused used pipes and wooden sticks to thrash Rajesh Manchi, who suffered injuries in the chest, ribs and hips. Rajesh Manchi’s body was found in Keezhissery on the night of May 12 (Friday).

The accused questioned Rajesh Manchi about the theft by torturing him with sticks and pipes for more than two hours after tying his hands. The accused filmed the act and the video is now with the police.

The cops arrived on the spot after locals informed them about the incident. They found Rajesh Manchi in an unconscious state and took him to a nearby hospital, but the doctors confirmed that he was brought dead.

According to preliminary investigation, the arrested accused said that Rajesh Manchi was a thief.

The police is conducting a detailed investigation in the matter, said officials. They have confiscated the mobile phones of the attackers and are scanning the CCTV footage in the area. A special team under the leadership of Kondotti ASP is investigating the case.
