Police nabs 8, including Rohingyas, Bangladeshis in UP’s Kanpur

By India Today News Desk: The Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh arrested eight people, including six Rohingya and two Bangladeshi nationals near Jhakarkati bus station in Kanpur on Sunday. According to police, of the nabbed people, four were women.

The police also nabbed the peddlers, identified as Subir Sabdakar of Tripura, and Mohammad Zakaria of Samba in Jammu, who were illegally sending the Rohingyas and Bangladeshis across the Bangladesh border. These citizens were being sent to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Jammu.

The arrested people are identified as Mohammad Shoaib and Noor Mustafa from Myanmar. The Bangladeshi nationals include Farsa, Sabkur Nahar, Noor Habiba and Rajia.

The police also recovered five Aadhaar cards, driving licenses, Ayushman cards, labour cards, and two United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards from them. The police also recovered train tickets from Kumarghat to Guwahati and from Guwahati to Delhi from the citizens of Rohingya.

Subir Sabdakar was taking as many as six Rohingyas to Delhi, police claimed.

Anwar, a resident of Tripura, used to get fake Aadhaar cards and other identity cards prepared after crossing the border.
