Polish climber Adam Bielecki rescues Anurag Maloo on Nepal’s Mount Annapurna | Video

By India Today News Desk: A video of Polish climber Adam Bielecki rescuing Indian climber Anurag Maloo, who went missing and was later found alive in critical condition, from a deep crevasse on Mount Annapurna has gone viral.

Mount Annapurna is the 10th highest mountain in the world. It is counted among the most difficult peaks to summit, along with K2 and Nanga Parbat.

Taking to Twitter, Everest Today, a profile that covers mountaineering in the Himalayas and Karakoram, wrote, “Thank you for your incredible bravery and expertise in rescuing Anurag Maloo from the crevasse on Annapurna I (8091 m). Your help in rescuing Anurag Maloo from the crevasse is nothing short of extraordinary. RESPECT.”

According to sources, Adam Bielecki and his friend were a part of the ground search and rescue team that sought Anurag Maloo after he collapsed while descending on April 17.

On the morning of April 20, a group of six sherpa climbers led by Chhang Dawa discovered Maloo in a 300 metre deep crevice.

“He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but he is still alive. We will have to shift our focus towards the medical side now,” Sudhir, Maloo’s brother, said.

WHO IS ANURAG MALOO?

Anurag Maloo is a 34-year-old Indian entrepreneur and experienced climber. He was awarded the REX Karam – Veer Chakra and became the 2041 Antarctic Youth Ambassador from India.

Maloo hails from Kishangarh in Rajasthan and refers to himself as a “Mountain-preneur” on his LinkedIn profile. He is currently the Regional Director (Asia-Pacific) and a VP at Seedstars.

Anurag Maloo is on a mission to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres and the seven highest points in all seven continents to create awareness and drive action towards achieving the UN Global Goals.
