By India Today News Desk: One person has been arrested in connection with an incident of sacrilege reported in Punjab’s Gurdaspur. The man has been accused of desecrating the Sri Gutka Sahib, a holy book of the Sikhs.
The Sikh community in Gurdaspur’s Shuor Kalan village demanded strict action over the sacrilegious act. The perpetrator, identified as Sucha Singh, was caught by the villagers, who immediately informed the police.

Gurdaspur SP Jagjit Singh Saroha said they have registered a case against the accused.
“We received a call from Shuor Kalan village that a person has done ‘beadbi’ (sacrilege) of Gutka Sahib. The person has been arrested and a case has been registered against him. Further investigation is being done,” Jagjit Singh Saroha was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Speaking to India Today, farmer leader Indrapal Singh said the incident had deeply hurt the sentiments of the community and urged the authorities to take strict measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
The Gurdwara Sahib’s management has also been urged to be more vigilant and prevent any mischievous elements from desecrating the holy books.
