Security beefed up in Patna ahead of Bageshwar Dham chief’s visit, high footfall expected

By Aditya Vaibhav: Acting on the inputs shared by state home department’s special branch, Patna district control room has sounded alert ahead of self-styled godman Dhirendra Krishna Shastri aka Bageshwar Dham Sarkar’s Patna visit.

Round-the-clock rostered deployment of magistrates and police officers has been ordered besides adequate force at the scheduled venue of ‘Hanumant Katha recitation and Darbar’ in a village under Patna’s Naubatpur police station. The beef up has been attributed to anticipated footfall including VVIPs.

Preliminary assessment for security requirements were made by Danapur SDPO on Monday last following which the alert has been sounded.

Patna district control room alert mentions occasions like this have potentially tricky as terror outfits may eye such gathering to inflict collateral damage including damage to life and property by use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

India Today accessed the exclusive copy of alert issued by district control room, Patna, that contains clear references of Hunkar Rally blasts and the NIA crackdown that followed. The references were made to underscore the level of sensitivity of the current situation.

The control room alert, as accessed by India Today, also highlighted recent recovery of large consignments of bomb making components including detonators, ammonium nitrate and remote sensors from a rented accommodation in an area under Ramkrishna Nagar police station of the state capital.

Bihar ADG (HQ) Jitendra Singh Gangwar assured media on Friday that all security components available at disposal of state police headquarters have been mobilised to ensure peace and tranquility during the scheduled visit.

ADG (HQ) Jitendra Singh Gangwar informed media that the standard operating procedure (SOP) meant for assembly of large crowds has been envoked.

He said the SOP is equally applicable for both religious and non-religious assembly of crowd which mandates the district administration to liaison with the organisers and guide them to make meticulous assessment of incoming crowd and take precautionary steps as required.

Likes of minister Tej Pratap Yadav have expressed anguish over Shastri’s scheduled visit who’ve also vowed to protest his arrival at the airport itself. Meanwhile, supporters of Baba Bageshwar Dham assure that any such misadventure will be retaliated for sure.
