A case was filed by Tej Pratap Yadav in the court in order seeking divorce from Aishwarya. Later, Aishwarya had filed a domestic violence case against Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son.
In July 2022, Tej Pratap had threatened to wash some dirty linen against his ex-wife in public. Yadav came out with a video statement, nearly seven minutes long, fulminating against a news portal which had carried a report about his divorce case, apparently presenting him in a poor light.
“I can come out with countless video clips and other evidence to prove the physical and verbal abuse suffered by me, my parents and my siblings,” Tej Pratap said in the video. He had filed a petition seeking divorce four years ago.
RJD MLA had tied the knot with Aishwarya Rai, a granddaughter of late former chief minister Daroga Prasad Rai, in May 2018. However, their union could not last for more than 6 months.

Following a family dispute in the middle of the night during a rainy winter evening, Aishwarya stormed out of her in-laws’ house, claiming that she was forced to leave. Her father, Chandrika Rai, pledged to seek political revenge for the insult and quit the RJD to join Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), but was unable to retain his Parsa assembly seat in 2020.
Tej Pratap had alleged that “the RSS” and “the other side” in his divorce case were hatching a conspiracy to malign him.
