By India Today News Desk: With the Congress Legislative Party meeting underway in Bengaluru to decide who will be Karnataka CM-elect, supporters of DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah locked horns outside the Shanghri La hotel in the city.
Slogans were raised from both sides with DKS supporters shouting “We want DK Shivakumar as CM”. Congress registered a thumping win in the state assembly election on Saturday, marking a victory on 135 seats in the 224-constituency assembly.
Earlier, supporters of both key Congress leaders engaged in a poster war. Posters were seen outside Siddaramaiah’s residence in Bengaluru congratulating him and claiming “he will be taking oath as Karnataka Chief Minister for the second time”.

As suspense grows over who will chair the CM’s seat in Karnataka, Shivakumar brushed aside speculations about differences between him and former chief minister Siddaramaiah. On Monday, he seemed to vouch for himself in the CM race, saying he took everyone along.
Notably, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday appointed three observers in Karnataka including former Maharashtra chief minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and party leaders Jitendra Singh and Deepak Babaria for the election of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader in the state.
Congress called a meeting of newly elected party MLAs in Bengaluru to discuss government formation and the next chief minister. Speculations are rife that Congress high command will take a final call on who gets to be the next Karnataka CM.
