By India Today News Desk: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) worker Sandeep Kale wrote a letter to Sharad Pawar in his blood after the latter’s surprise announcement to step down as the party chief. Kale urged Sharad Pawar to take back his decision.

In the letter, Kale described Sharad Pawar as “our mentor” and said his resignation announcement left the party workers orphaned.

“This decision of yours is not acceptable to anyone. With this shocking announcement of yours, we have been orphaned. Pawar saheb, you are our idol and our mentor. Please change your decision to resign as NCP president,” Kale wrote in the letter using his blood.

Springing a surprise, Sharad Pawar on Tuesday made the announcement to hand over NCP reigns at the launch of a revised version of his Marathi autobiography ‘Lok Majhe Sangati’ (People Accompany Me), prompting protests by party workers and appeals by senior leaders to rescind his decision.

Soon after Sharad Pawar’s shocking announcement, Maharashtra NCP president Jayant Patil and party leader Jitendra Awhad broke down. NCP MP Praful Patel even said that the veteran politician did not take anyone into confidence before announcing his resignation.

NCP leaders met Sharad Pawar, who said he would take two to three days to rethink his decision to step down as national president. This was revealed by his nephew Ajit Pawar.

“We all met Sharad Pawar today (on Tuesday) and urged him to consider the demands of the workers. He said he would take two to three days to think over his decision,” Ajit Pawar said.
