By India Today News Desk: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has given his nod to a 4 per cent increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners.

The move, which will involve an additional expenditure of Rs 2,366.82 crore annually to the government exchequer, will benefit 16 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners and those receiving family pension, an official release said on Wednesday said.

The increase in hike will be applied retroactively from April 1, 2023, marking the beginning of the financial year. According to the announcement, the DA has been raised from 38 per cent to 42 per cent.

Additionally, the state government stated that it will implement a DA increase in alignment with the Central government’s future increments.
