By Shilpa Nair: Tamil Nadu CM and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin has requested Sharad Pawar to reconsider his decision of quitting the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief post ahead of the upcoming general elections in 2024.

Veteran politician Sharad Pawar last Tuesday resigned as president of the Nationalist Congress Party, the political outfit he floated more than two decades ago.

Taking to Twitter, the Tamil Nadu CM wrote, “With national politics centred around upcoming 2024 General Elections, I request, Sharad Pawar, one of the tallest leaders, crucial in strengthening secular alliance across India, to reconsider his decision to relinquish the President post of NCP chief and continue to lead NCP.”

The DMK chief request came moments before an 18-member committee formed by Pawar was supposed to meet on Friday to decide who will head the NCP next.

Ahead of the party meeting, NCP workers raised slogans in support of Sharad Pawar outside the party office in Mumbai.
