By Pramod Madhav: The Tamil Nadu government has filed a defamation case against state BJP chief Annamalai over his ‘DMK files’ accusing Chief Minister MK Stalin of corruption.
The city public prosecutor filed the complaint under Section 199 (prosecution for defamation) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

The complaint mentioned the April 14 press meet organized by Annamalai to release the DMK files.
The complaint stated that Annamalai made defamatory statements and exhibited videos to harm the reputation of Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Last month, Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai had released the ‘DMK Files’, making allegations of graft against DMK leaders, including MK Stalin.
Annamalai had alleged that MK Stalin was paid â¹ 200 crore in 2011 to fix a Chennai Metro contract. Claiming that leaders of Mr Stalin’s party, the DMK, own assets worth â¹ 1.34 lakh crore, earned through corrupt means, Annamalai also alleged the chief minister’s family members were directors of a Dubai company that’s investing in the state.

In response, the ruling DMK issued a legal notice against Annamalai over his graft allegations against the party and its president MK Stalin. The DMK demanded an apology and damages to the tune of Rs 500 crore. To which the Tamil Nadu BJP chief had said he would not apologise and denied having committed any offence.
