KERALA STUDENT UNION PROTEST
KSU, the students wing of Kerala Congress, on Monday took out a protest march in Thiruvananthapuram against alleged saffronisation of NCERT textbooks. The march that began from Palayam ended at AG’s office. Around 300 members of the Kerala Students Union joined the protests and raised slogans against the Centre.
In view of the protest, heavy police force was deployed outside the AG’s office.
The protest turned violent after protesters tried to break the police barricade. Following this, police resorted to three rounds of water canons and used tear gas and grenades to disperse the crowd.
Students then sat on a dharna blocking the road. In retaliation, police used force to remove them from the spot, which led to a clash between students and police. The students were later detained by police.
