The Kerala Story is product of Sangh Parivar’s lie factory, says CM Pinarayi Vijayan

By Shibimol KG: Lashing out at the upcoming movie ‘The Kerala Story’, Kerela Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the movie appears to have been deliberately made with the aim of communal polarisation and to spread hate propaganda against the state. This fake story is the product of Sangh Parivar’s lie factory, the chief minister said.

In his first reaction, the CPI(M) leader said the trailer of ‘The Kerala Story’ indicates that the film is trying to spread the propaganda of Sangh Parivar, which has established itself as the center of religious extremism in the land of secularism, Kerala.

“They (Sangh Parivar) are trying to spread the politics of division through fake stories and movies. The Sangh Parivar is spreading such myths without any fact and evidence. The big lie that 32,000 women in Kerala converted to Islam and joined the Islamic State was what we saw in the trailer of the film. This fake story is the product of the Sangh Parivar’s lie factory,” the chief minister added.

‘The Kerala Story’, written and directed by Sudipto Sen, is portrayed as “unearthing” the events behind “approximately 32,000 women” allegedly going missing in the southern state. The film falsely claims they converted, got radicalised and were deployed in terror missions in India and the world.

“It is necessary to see propaganda films and their Muslim alienation in the background of various efforts being made by Sangh Parivar to gain the advantage in electoral politics in Kerala,” the chief minister said.

The ruling CPI(M) and the opposition Congress have also slammed the movie, saying freedom of expression was not a licence to spew venom in society, and the film was an attempt to destroy the communal harmony of the state. The Congress party urged the government not to give permission to screen the controversial movie as it aimed to create “communal divisions in society through false claims”.

‘SYSTEMATIC MOVE TO FRAME LOVE JIHAD ALLEGATIONS’

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan added, “The movie The Kerala Story is part of a systematic move to frame the love jihad allegations which was rejected by the investigating agencies, the courts and even the Union Home Ministry. G Kishan Reddy also replied in Parliament that there is no such thing as “love jihad”.”

“Still, making this false allegation as the main theme in the film is only because of the eagerness to insult Kerala in front of the world. Sangh Parivar is trying to break the atmosphere of religious harmony in Kerala and spread the poison of communalism,” Pinarayi Vijayan added.

PARIVAR POLITICS DIG AT BJP

Taking a veiled dig at the BJP, Pinarayi Vijayan said “Parivar politics” does not work in Kerala, just like other places.

“It is also not right to justify those who use cinema only to create communalism and discrimination in the country. Freedom of expression is not a license to categorize this country, spread fault lines and divide people. I request Malayalis to reject such communal and divisional attempts. Everyone should be alert against communal attempts to create unrest in society through false propaganda. We will take legal action against anti-social activities,” Pinarayi Vijayan said in a statement.

‘The Kerala Story’, starring Adah Sharma, is set to be released in cinemas on May 5. ‘The Kerala Story’ is backed by Sunshine Pictures Private Limited, founded by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, who serves as the producer, creative director and co-writer on the film.
