By Indrajit Kundu: The son of veteran Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy, Subhargshu Roy, has claimed that his father had gone ‘missing’. According to Subhargshu Roy, Mukul Roy left for Delhi on Monday evening on an Indigo flight (GE-898).
The flight was supposed to land at 9.55 pm in Delhi today. However, the veteran leader could not be traced, according to his son.
According to sources, the leader went ‘missing’ after a bitter altercation happened between Roy and his son on Sunday. Mukul Roy, who has been suffering from health ailments after the death of his wife, was recently hospitalised in February.
While his son Subhargshu Roy claimed that the family has lodged a complaint with the airport police officials, sources in the police said that no formal complaint has been received till now.
Roy, 68, has been keeping a low profile since his return to the Mamata Banerjee-led party from the BJP one-and-a-half years back. He was a key leader behind the BJP’s Bengal strategy for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, which saw the saffron party winning 18 of the state’s total 42 seats.
In the 2021 Assembly polls, Roy contested from the Krishnanagar Uttar Assembly seat in Nadia district. He managed to win but the BJP lost the polls.
