By Ritvick Arun Bhalekar: Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde lashed out at the Uddhav Sena, accusing them of trying to “mislead public” by pretending that the Supreme Court verdict on the Maharashtra political crisis was in the latter’s favour.
“The Supreme Court has rejected six of the eight prayers made by the Thackeray group. But UBT Sena is trying to mislead people by pretending that the result is in their favour and spreading false and incorrect information,” Shrikant Shinde said.
Shrikant Shinde, son of Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, further claimed that the allegations levelled by the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) Sena group against the Shiv Sena-BJP government are mere attempts to garner sympathy and to retain the remaining MLAs and Shiv Sainiks who are with the UBT Sena.
“Despite the Supreme Court clarifying that the Shiv Sena-BJP government is an official coalition and the Legislative Assembly Speaker was elected through due process, the Thackeray group is misleading the people by saying that the government and Speaker’s appointment is unconstitutional,” he added.

On Friday, a day after the Supreme Court verdict, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray demanded that Maharashtra’s Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar take a decision on the disqualification of 16 MLAs at the earliest.
Reacting to this, Shrikant Shinde said, “Demanding that the verdict on 16 MLAs’ suspension be delivered within 15 days is an attempt of the Thackeray group to put itself above the Supreme Court.”
Calling Uddhav Thackeray’s demand for the resignation of the CM and the Deputy CM on moral grounds an “eye-wash”, Shrikant Shinde said, “Thackeray resigned as CM on his own because he didn’t have the majority and due to lack of confidence. If he resigned as a matter of morality, then why did he made a pray before the court to reinstate him as a Chief Minister again? Where did your morality go?”
Without naming anyone, Shinde claimed that many party leaders of the Congress, the NCP and the UBT faction are in touch with the chief minister.
