By Pankaj Upadhyay: The Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders may have been hopeful after Congress’s win in Karnataka and with the recent Supreme Court judgment on the disqualification petition, its arch-political rival Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) believes that Uddhav Thackeray’s part would not get sympathy votes in the upcoming polls.
“Sympathy vote for what? Karnataka has proved that the sympathy card, name-calling, and all these things don’t always work. Uddhav Thackeray might get sympathy but no votes for the simple reason that there was no development during his rule. People have seen the scale of corruption during his time,” said MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande.

Speaking to India Today, the MNS leader justified Raj Thackeray’s recent “defeat of arrogance” statement for BJP after Karnataka poll results and said that it was up to the saffron party to see what they do now because the path of arrogance doesn’t lead to success.
Deshpande further said that the MNS wasn’t targeting BJP in any sense and that it would also be out of place to say that there are any cracks in relations between the BJP and MNS since the two parties aren’t in any political understanding with each other.
“Raj Thackeray speaks the truth and often he’s often misunderstood for his comments. But what’s wrong in stating the facts. There are some people who think about your welfare, and it needs to be understood in that sense,” he said.

When asked if the Congress would present itself as a rejuvenated lot after the Karnataka win, the MNS leader, drawing a comparison between the southern state and Maharashtra, said, “Congress leadership said that the party might have won with its coordinated efforts and aggressive campaigning, yet it shouldn’t feel they will have the same fate in Maharashtra.”
“I have doubts about the Congress leadership in Maharashtra. We have seen what Congress did in Karnataka but here we all see how the Congress leaders don’t see eye to eye. So, getting Mysore Pak in Karnataka doesn’t mean they will get Shrikhand in Maharashtra too,” he said.
