Udhayanidhi Stalin serves Rs 50 crore notice to BJP’s K Annamalai over ‘DMK Files’

By Shilpa Nair: DMK Youth Wing chief and Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has sent a legal notice to state BJP president K Annamalai over “DMK Files.” Udhayanidhi Stalin has sought Rs 50 crore as damages from Annamalai along with an unconditional apology.

What the legal notice said:

  • It demanded an unconditional, public apology from Annamalai for the speech/ allegations made against him (Udhayanidhi Stalin) on April 14, 2023 in the press conference and the video clip titled “DMK Files”.
  • Removal of the “offending video” of the said press conference found on Annamalai’s social media pages.
  • “Cease and desist from in any way speaking, broadcasting, publishing, sharing, uploading, disseminating or in any way communicating to the public the allegations made against our client in the offending video,” it said
  • Pay damages to the tune of Rs 50 crore to Udhayanidhi Stalin ” which he intends to pay over to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
  • Udhayanidhi also took exception to use of his children’s picture, including minors, and names in the video released by Annamalai.
  • Udhayanidhi denied allegations that he has assets to the tune of Rs 2,039 crore, as claimed by Annamalai. The minister also said the valuation of Red Giant Movies, from which he has resigned as a partner, is nowhere close to the “inflated imaginary figure of Rs 2010 crore” as alleged by Annamalai.

ANNAMALAI AND DMK FILES ROW

Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai had released the “DMK Files” last week, making allegations of graft against party leaders including MK Stalin.

In response, the ruling DMK issued a legal notice against Annamalai over his graft allegations against the party and its president MK Stalin. The DMK demanded an apology and damages to the tune of Rs 500 crore.
