By Nahid Ansari: In Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh, a video has surfaced showing a prisoner, with his hands cuffed, purchasing alcohol from a liquor shop. The purported video showed a police officer helping the prisoner buy alcohol. The incident has sparked outrage, and an inquiry has been ordered.
The prisoner, who was booked under Section 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), was being taken to court from the police station when the incident took place.

He was being escorted by two cops. On his way, the prisoner stopped in front of a liquor shop and went to buy alcohol. One of the cops allegedly assisted him in his purchase.
The entire incident was captured on camera by a passerby.
The incident came to light after the video went viral on social media, prompting the authorities to order an investigation. The Superintendent of Police (SP) has ordered action against the police officer seen helping the prisoner purchase alcohol.
The two police officers who were escorting him to court have also been suspended pending investigation.
