Veteran politician Sharad Pawar on Tuesday resigned as president of the Nationalist Congress Party, in a move that came as a shock to his supporters. Pawar made the announcement during an event held in Mumbai.
“I have decided to step down as the president of the NCP,” Pawar announced. His statement was immediately followed by a commotion as the audience gasped audibly at the former Maharashtra Chief Minister’s unexpected statement.
Pawar’s supporters quickly stood up in protest against his announcement.
