By India Today News Desk: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadavis on Wednesday said there was no space for a third party in the alliance with Shiv Sena while answering a question on the buzz of the NCP and the BJP joining hands.

When asked at a Mumbai Tak event if the NCP and the BJP could come together, Maharashtra’s Deputy CM said that currently there was no place for any third party. “The BJP and the Shiv Sena will fight together. Eknath Shinde will be the candidate for the post of Chief Minister,” said Fadnavis.

He was also asked if he was in contact with some NCP and Congress leader, to which he replied, “People become associated with us when we work in the government. We cannot say how many of them came and how many left, but some people are in contact.”

Fadnavis said it was during election when it was known who was with whom.

Fadnavis also said there was no question of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray returning as the chief minister.

The Supreme Court has reserved its verdict on the power struggle in Maharashtra. Fadnavis said Uddhav Thackeray couldn’t become the Chief Minister again, citing arguments made during the hearing in the Supreme Court.

“Those who watched the hearing of the Supreme Court must have realised that Uddhav Thackeray did not face the majority test. So their government cannot come back. I am a lawyer. After his resignation, how can the Supreme Court cancel his resignation and reinstate him?” Fadnavis said.
