By Pankaj Jain: The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday defended Arvind Kejriwal over the Rs 45-crore renovation of his official residence by citing expenses on the residences of the prime minister and the chief ministers of BJP-ruled states.
“It is not the private residence of Arvind Kejriwal, but the official residence of the Chief Minister of Delhi. If there’s an issue with this too, then the BJP should first tell why Rs 1,500 crore is being spent on PM Modi’s residence,” the AAP said in a statement.
“As far as the residence of the Chief Minister of Delhi is concerned, every expenditure has been done in a transparent manner,” the party said, hours after Lt Governor VK Saxena sought a report on the matter within 15 days.

The BJP has been targeting Arvind Kejriwal and AAP, claiming Rs 45 crore was spent on the renovation of the chief minister’s residence 6, Flagstaff Road, during 2020-22. The AAP has hit back, saying the BJP was trying to divert attention from real issues by raising this matter.
“Actually, the truth is that the BJP and PM Modi are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill over a completely futile issue, just so that it can divert attention from the colossal failure of its central government,” the AAP said in a statement.
“The BJP should first answer when it will sack its MP who has been accused of harassing female wrestlers. What does the BJP have to say about the serious allegations levelled by former Governor Satya Pal Malik. The people of the country are seeing through all the conspiracies of PM Modi and BJP and will also give a befitting reply to them when the time comes,” the party said.
