When Bihar CM Nitish Kumar met an aggrieved Nitish Kumar

[ad_1]

By Aditya Vaibhav: What’s there in the name? They say! A namesake, however, brought a hearty laugh on the face of otherwise serious Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday, during his ‘Janata Ke Darbar Mein Mukhyamantri’ (CM in Public’s Darbar) program in the state capital.

During the event, Nitish Kumar made a remark on the name ‘Nitish Kumar’, that stoked controversy, as the same came bundled with a claim that the name Nitish was unique when his father chose to name him.

One Nitish Kumar Mandal came to meet the chief minister, seeking redressal of his state government-related grievances. The complainant attempted to get his Ration Card from a local block office.

“Mera hi naam le liye aap (you took my name),” said Nitish, as he burst into laughter. His name has an additional Mandal, the chief minister told his subordinates present on the occasion, who responded in a pleasant and affirmative manner.

“You have adopted my name?” the CM laughed out aloud and recalled that in his early days, he hardly found anyone with the same moniker.

“But now it is different. The name seems to have become quite popular,” he said.

Later, over the phone, he was heard saying “A boy has come from Madhubani. He has my name, Nitish Kumar, albeit with the suffix Mandal. He has some ration card issues. Please look into it”.

Meanwhile, the BJP was quick to respond.

Taking a dig at the chief minister, while making a remark on what was live-streamed by the state government from its official handles, BJP spokesperson Nikhil Anand, in a Twitter post, wrote: “â€æab toh sachmuch lagta hai ki mamala gadbad hai (now it seems that the issue is a mess for sure).”

“The chief minister is either daydreaming or is crumbling under the pressure mounted by his newfound ally, the RJD,” Nikhil added.

Responding to the BJP’s onslaught, JDU spokesperson Dr Sunil Singh accused the saffron party of going out of their minds post the Karnataka debacle and the ouster from power impending in 2024.

“The dream of BJP Mukta Bharat (India sans the BJP) will come true in 2024,” Dr Singh told India Today, adding, it is the same frustration that is ventilated when the saffron party cadre collectively assails an initiative as positive as the one of Janata Ke Darbar Mein Mukhyamantri.

It must be mentioned that ‘Janata Ke Darbar Mein Mukhyamantri’ is a flagship in Bihar, which is considered among those critical factors that earned Nitish Kumar the title of ‘Sushasan Babu’ right in his early days as the chief minister of the state.

The flagship involves one-to-one interaction between the chief minister and aggrieved citizens, aspiring to deliver quick redressal of chronic systemic issues prevalent in the hinterland.
